Desert bloom

Because of the unprecedented rainfall this year in Southern California, we went to Anza Borrego desert today to see the unexpected huge wild flower bloom.
If you have been to the annual flower field (annual exhibition of miles of flowers planted in a field) in Carlsbad, this year’s wild flower bloom in the desert is bigger than that. The usually barren desert is completely transformed into a huge ephermarol garden. I took some shots with my Nikon D70, haven’t got chance to process them all yet. Here is an early one:

Customize Wordpress

Deciding to use WordPress to power this blog opens a new world of possibility of customization.
This kids-in-the-candy store feeling is quite a rush – “honey, cancel all my activities for the rest of the day…”
So this is my progress so far:

  • Customized the title picture;
  • Added breadcrum navigation to page and single post;
  • Added Exhibit (an image plugin), but some minor snags (thumbnails and incorrect full URL);
  • Added acronym, but it messes up the admin page, so it’s not activated yet.

LAMP – Linux, Apache, MySQL, and Php

I have been using Linux for years, as hobby first then for work. In the last two years I’ve also been using Apache to host my own photo server (how about unlimited storage?).
I have used MySQL and PHP a bit here and there. But this is the first time the proverbial string quartet finally worked harmoniously together on my AMD powered, piano-black, Antec box…for this blog site.
